Who’s really being trained here?

Malia pictureWhat is the true measure of successful housebreaking with dogs? Is it me/us anticipating when the dog needs to go out? Or is it when the dog signals her need to go out and then waits to be let out without finding another place to relieve herself indoors? I know it should be the second scenario and I know we’re still early in the whole housebreaking thing but I can’t help but feel like I’m the one being trained.

  1. Haha. Yeah. I think you’re being trained. And maybe, just maybe, the dog is being trained too. But mostly YOU. I think that every parent/pet owner comes to this conclusion at some point. haha. Good luck with it!

  2. Oh, they train you. No doubt about it.

    After 8 years, I’m a very well-trained humdog. (That’s pronounced Hyoom-dog.)

I think the dogs here think of me as a dog who can do super-cool tricks–such as ordering pizza and opening doors.
