Def Leppard – Bluegrass Style

180px-opus_blue.jpg We were all nostalgic this morning for some good ole-timey music.  So we went to iTunes, our favorite place to waste some money, to listen to some Def Leppard (hopefully not to purchase….Malia was at the controls).  Little did we know that there is a bluegrass tribute album that was produced that includes some of your all-time favorite Def Leppard hits, like Pour Some Sugar On Me.  Nothing hits you like a rock tag transformed by some mandolin pickin’ and bluegrass harmonies.  YEE-HAW!!

It turns out there is a whole series of these bluegrass tribute albums known as the “Pickin’ On” series.  You too can have all of your favorite songs from the stars “bluegrass-ed”.  Groups such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Franz Ferdinand, Sara Evans, Kelly Clarkson, Clapton, Eagles, Beach Boys, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers and many, many more.  Rock and Roll Ya’ll!!!

Note: We stumbled upon this and have no affiliation with that website or these tribute albums.

Ahem! Who is it that puts up with your barbershop music and your Disturbed and your Puddle of Mudd? Hmmmm???? I think a little Def Leppard is not out of the question! 😉

  2. You forgot my favorite, System of a Down.

At least you downloaded the “clean” versions of those songs. Can’t say that about some of the others though.

I just want to make sure that everyone understands we’re not “pickin’ on” bluegrass music. We both enjoy bluegrass music. It’s just very amusing to hear the music of groups like Def Leppard and Red Hot Chili Peppers turned in bluegrass style music. That’s all. 🙂

Def Leppard in blue grass! Something I definately need to check out. 🙂 I can only imagine how they turn a classic rock song into bluegrass.

  6. Don’t forget David Lee Roth doing Van Halen Bluegrass style.

  7. Hayseed Dixie did a whole cd of AC/DC songs. The interesting thing is lots of those songs totally lend themselves to grass because they come from the same roots.

  8. Sista beat me to Hayseed Dixie… I saw them open for someone at Starwood a few years back. It was fun, once we figgered out what was going on.
